The website linked above explains how the dimensions of the memorial and the pillars reflect the lives lost and the size of the USS Arizona.

The timeline depicted on the First 85 Minutes lists the following events:

07:55 Japanese torpedo planes, dive bombers and horizontal bombers descent on Pearl Harbor. Air raid alarm sounded.

07:57 Hickam, Eva, Bellows, Kaneohe and Wheeler Air Fields are attacked destroying most of the warplanes on the ground, neutralizing air force.

08:01 The first of 5 torpedoes hit the USS Oklahoma, the second hit destroys her electricity. The next three hits cause her to capsize.

08:02 Ships USS Raleigh, USS Utah and USS Helena are hit by torpedoes. The concussion from the blast to the Helena burst the seams of the USS Ogalala, moored alongside.

08:03 The USS Cummings, California, Swan and submarine Cachalot open fire on the Japanese bombers.

08:06 An armor-piercing bomb hits the USS Arizona, striking the forward magazine detonating 1 million pounds of gunpowder and instantly killing 1000 or more men. Admiral Kidd and Captain Van Valkenburgh are among them. The ship began to collapse into the hull pitching the superstructure to a 45º angle and gushing oil into the harbor. Shock waves from the blast are felt by planes 10,000 feet above the ground.

08:08 The USS West Virginia is hit by the first of 6 or 7 torpedoes as burning debris from the Arizona rain onto the deck. A raging fire began amidships. The ship is ordered abandoned.

08:15 The USS Arizona sinks to the bottom of the harbor. Approximately 12 minutes was all it took to destroy a ship 608 feet long, weighing 29,000 tons.

09:06 54 Japanese bombers and 78 dive-bombers begin the 2nd wave of the attack. Hickam Field is hit again, reducing the barracks to flames and blowing apart hangars, destroying the remaining aircraft. The USS Downes, Pennsylvania, California, Cassin, Tennessee and Detroit are bombed.

09:12 The USS Shaw takes a bomb hit that ignites her forward magazine and tears off the bow of the ship.

09:20 A bomb explodes underwater alongside the cruiser Honolulu, blasting a 20' x 6' hole in the hull and flooding the ship.
