Su historia constructiva es confusa, ya que presenta mezcla de elementos. Parece claro que la iglesia actual se construyó sobre otra tardorrománica, de la segunda mitad del siglo XIII, de la que restan el presbiterio y primer tramo de las tres naves, el muro del Evangelio con su portada correspondiente, y probablemente el cuerpo bajo de la torre.
