[EN] “Daniel Canogar's artistic project, Constelaciones, consists of a large mosaic made with small glass tiles.

The image represents the residents of the two neighborhoods that join these footbridges. To do this, Canogar photographed 50 residents who were selected through a call that was held in Matadero in November 2009. The residents were photographed from below hanging from a crane, appearing to float in the air.

The work refers to the weightless representation of the human figure in Roman and Byzantine frescoes and mosaics, but here the aim is to create movement based on static figures.

On each bridge, 25 anonymous citizens from both banks of the river represent the diversity of people in the area, with a very dynamic attitude and a contemporary aesthetic. On a dark blue background, the silhouettes of these characters are cut out in bright colors, causing an enveloping sensation to the viewer.

Each pixel of these photographs becomes a tile in this large photographic mosaic, made with small pieces of industrial glass mosaic. Each tile made with recycled glass measures 7×7 mm. 6,500,000 tiles with a range of 260 colors have been used to cover the 300 m2 vault of each of the bridges.”
