"This elegant two-story townhouse was originally built for successful cotton factor and merchant Sterling Fowlkes. His family arrived in the Memphis area from Virginia sometime before 1840. After Fowlkes died in 1872, the home was sold to Thomas Raymond Boyle and his wife Margaret Owen, who lived in the home with their children until 1920. Today the structure is painted brick and retains its brick quoins, limestone belt courses, the incorporated cast-iron ventilation grills, and ornate hoods on the long windows on the front facade of the house. The Fowlkes-Boyle House now serves as a law office for the firm of Weiss & Cummins."
