At the most famous excavations at Delphi, Greece there is a huge commemorative, marble stone to remember the excavations. The French inscription reads:

Fouilles de Delphes
Octobre 1892 - Mai 1908

Les fouilles de Delphes ont été concédées
a la France en vertu d'une convention votée
par les chambres francaises
sur la proposition de M. Leon Bourgeois
ministre de l' instruction publique
les 16 février et 3 mars 1891
et par le parlement hellénique
le 28 février / 7 mars 1891
M. Th. Delyannis etant president du conseil
elles ont été exécutees
aux frais du gouvernement francais par
M. Homolle directeur de l'école fraincaise
avece la collaboration de M.M.

The excavations of Delphi were conceded
to France by virtue of a convention voted
by the French chambers

on February 16 and March 3, 1891
and by the Hellenic Parliament
on February 28 / March 7, 1891

Mr. Th. Delyannis being president of the council
they were executed
at the expense of the French government by
Mr. Homolle director of the French school
with the collaboration of Mr.
