For most of the 19th century this house was center of prosperous Ohio River farm with an active riverboat landing. Built circa 1837 by Gabriel Farnsley (1800-1849). House and 200-acre farm site purchased, 1862, by Alanson Moremen (1803-90). Riverboat landing known as "Soap Landing" in late 1800s.
