Saint John Gualbert Cathedral is located on the corner of Clinton and Locust Streets in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. It is the co-cathedral of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown. The original Saint John Gualbert parish was destroyed during the Johnstown Flood of 1889. In 1895, construction was begun on a new church building, one block from the original site. The cornerstone, which is now barely legible, was laid on October 13, 1895. The new building was one of the first in Johnstown to use structural steel in its construction. The architects of the building were Louis and M. J. Beezer. The brick church has two towers, the shorter of which holds a 3,200-pound bell from the original church. When the Diocese of Altoona became the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown in 1957, Saint John Gualbert was made the co-cathedral of the diocese.
