The Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga and the Malaga-based company Ginebra Larios have presented this Tuesday the installation of a 30-square-meter artistic mural located on Calle Comedias corner Plaza de Los Mártires, "an initiative that aims to improve the streets of the Thyssen Environment with artistic creations and interpretations inspired by the Carmen Thyssen Collection, adding stories and color to the Historic Center of the city"
'Silver Wedding' is the title of the work
Its author is the artist Elisa Capdevila, the winner of the contest promoted by both entities in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Malaga City Council "A project inspired by any of the pieces from the Carmen Thyssen Collection was selected, framed in the so characteristic sunsets of the Mediterranean and with it also in the cultural project 'Sunsets with Art' of the brand"

1905 artwork
Elisa Capdevila proposes "a renewed and current interpretation of the work 'Just Married' made by the painter Ricardo López Cabrera in the year 1905 that is exhibited in the museum"

Inspired by the original painting, which represents the intimate celebration of a wedding of newlyweds, "the work leaps in time and transports the viewer twenty-five years later, "at a time when the same couple, now somewhat older, celebrates their wedding de plata, again with her loved ones and in the intimate space of her home”, explains the artist.

The scene "transfers us to the sunset of Malaga and includes tones also inspired by another work in the collection, specifically, 'Sunset on the coast of Malaga' by the Malaga painter Guillermo Gómez Gil. Sunsets are part of the daily pleasures that Mediterranean gin invites you to enjoy in a relaxed way, as you live naturally in the city"

A mural of 30 square meters
The 30-square-meter mural, located on Calle Comedias, on the corner with Plaza de los Mártires, can be seen in its entirety starting today.

“We are very grateful to the owners of the building for the assignment of the space and above all for the collaboration of Larios, without whose financing this project would not have been possible, and for the support of the Culture area. This artistic mural by Elisa Capdevila helps us to improve the urban image in the Thyssen Environment and to show the Museum's commitment to its city" underlined Javier Ferrer, the Museum's manager,

"Larios has always been part of the culture of Malaga, which is why we want to continue supporting initiatives that continue to give life to our city, a benchmark for the Good Life" has had an impact, Azahara Margon, Brand Ambassador of Larios

This collaboration is part of the agreement signed between the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga and Larios last June for the development of joint cultural actions in the city, also in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Málaga City Council. An alliance that included, among others, the sponsorship of the third edition of the concert cycle 'Música en el Patio', which brought together the artists Cravat & Liquidsky, Chipi La Canalla & Javier Galiana, Mastretta Trío and Paula Bilá & Joan Masana.
