From the Historical Marker:
The chapel was built by Col. Milford W. Howard in memory of his first wife, Sally A. Lankford Howard and by the mountain people.
The back of the chapel is a large boulder and stones from Little River were used to construct the altar. The church is active today.
The Master School, Granny Dollar’s home and the Alpine Lodge were built nearby.
The chapel was deeded to the Dekalb Baptist Association in 1974.
