"In 1923, the factory of the Sociedad Anónima de Fibras Artificiales was established near the Blanes station (Gerona). Initially, the transfer of wagons between its facilities and the tracks of the MZA Company was carried out with blood traction, that is that is, using Percheron horses.

To alleviate the inconveniences that this modality entailed, it was decided to acquire a steam locomotive and this acquisition was made through Arthur Koppel, shortly after the end of the Civil War.

The locomotive, built by Orenstein & Koppel in 1926 with factory number 11159, was a model without a hearth, widely used in Europe in similar industries and called “fireless”.

Originally it had two coupled axles, being transformed with the incorporation of a free axle at the front. In view of the manufacturing and delivery dates to SAFA, we think that in that time interval it had to provide service in another destination, where this transformation would occur.

When it was decommissioned from service, as a result of the incorporation of a diesel tractor, it was stored in the factory premises and at the end of 2000 it was installed on a pedestal, next to the Blanes railway station."
