This is a small pier as compared to some. It's about 75' in length, but it provides excellent fishing opportunities. This pond is a former quarry, and is regularly stocked with Bluegill, Bass, Catfish, and Rainbow Trout (Trout were just stocked today, April 5, 2007, from what I've read). There are no fees to enter the park, so the only cost involved would be that of the fishing license ($19/yr for Ohio residents, $40/yr for non-residents. They also offer $11 one day licenses for both residents and non-residents as well as a 3-day non-resident license for $19. These prices are valid March 1 2007-Feb 28 2008).
I've never personally fished here, but I do visit frequently to watch the waterfowl and aquatic life, as well as maintain a nearby cache that I own. I've noticed that the pier, along with its connected boardwalk are quite popular in the warmer months for fishing, and do frequently see folks make a catch.
Parking is ample and close to the pier most times. When there is a little league game being played you may have to park a little further away, but it's not a huge park, so no parking is too much of a walk. In addition you'll find basketball courts, a baseball field, playground equipment, and shelter houses at the park. There are public restrooms located across the park from the pier. There is no bait shop nearby so plan to bring your own.
Hours are Dawn to 6pm for their Winter hours, and Dawn to 11pm for their Summer hours. I have never been able to find out when "Summer" ends and "Winter" begins, or vice versa, but the hours are posted on the sign at the entrance to the park. It seems they change it whenever they get around to it. Last year they had the winter hours posted well into the Spring, however they don't seem to chase people out at 6pm if it's still daylight.
