A famous spot, but not without some controversy. Often the surfing is *so* good that it is hard to swim for all the surfers, so do a little surfing yourself! Textile users are most frequent on weekends.

My favorite spot to swim and frolic in the waves in the whole world. Makena Beach now has a paved parking lot from which you head North and over a little lava outcropping (bring good footwear). There are some restrooms by the parking lot and, as of 2007, a Taco Truck and other portable food stands are either on the road or in the lot. What fun!
