This is the site of the Town of Cary’s original (and, for many years, only) McDonalds Restaurant. However, it is not the original 1974 building—which had been given an updated exterior in 1989 and a new drive-through driveway and window in 1993.
The old building was razed and a new store was constructed in 2000. At that time, the facility appears to have changed from being a franchise operation to a “company-owned” store. This McDonalds is one of several in Cary, and is next door to one of the Town’s oldest fire stations.
Open from 6AM to 11PM. Drive-up window open 24 hours. It is located at the intersection of Cary Towne Center Blvd and Maynard Road.
To reach from Interstate 40 on the southwest side of Raleigh, take exit 291 (Cary Towne Center Blvd.) Go west about one mile (carefully observing the 45 MPH speed limit!), to the intersection with Maynard Road. Cross the intersection and turn right into the restaurant’s parking lot.
Also at the site: Within two blocks, you will find a large shopping mall, plus numerous “out parcel” restaurants and specialty stores.
