This marker is on the west side of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club at the very end of T Wharf in Rockport, Massachusetts. It reads:
"First timber wharf built in 1743 to shelter fishing boats. In 1793, 62 vessels of 5 to 10 tons were sighted in Rockport Harbour. From incorporatn of Sandy Bay Pier Co in 1811 wharves were rebuilt & extended of durable granite blocks with open joints to dissipate the impacts of waves."
