The old courthouse was the site for one of the most interesting in Missouri judicial history, the "Old Drum" trial. The trial in 1870 had an classic closing by George Graham Vest which over time has resulted to referring to dogs as man's best friend.
History of Mark:
The old courthouse was built between 1838 and 1842 and served as a court house until 1878. It was the site of the "Old Drum" trial.
