St George's Episcopal church was built in 1877-1878. The population of Austin has declined from the 10,000 plus of the mining boom town days to only a few hundred and St George's is the only historic church remaining in use by the denomination that built it.

The brick Gothic Revival style structure was constructed by a local builder. It has a hammer-beam-scissor truss roof and redwood roof boards. The original 296 pipe organ is still installed.
