Brandywine Falls - Waterfalls on Waymarking.com

The total drop for the falls is sixty feet. The falls and surrounding land are within the National Park Service boundaries. At one time the small village of Brandywine was centered on the falls. The village began with a grist mill and began its final decline when an appliance company at the top of the falls burned down in the 1930's.

On the day we visited, the water flow was light. The width of water at the top was about 1/4 of what could pass through in the spring. The area is almost 2" below normal rainfall for the month, yet the waterfalls still presented a wonderful sight. There are stairs that will take you to a good view of the falls. There is a gorge trail on the river opposite to the stairs. The trail is a nice walk, but descends downstream of the falls and does not head back toward the falls.

There is clearly marked parking with National Park Service signs. The parking area is gated with closure at dusk and closure in case of ice on the stairs leading to the falls.
