The marker is located near stone remains of a structure. The marker is along the Seneca Creek Greenway trail, which is reachable from Seneca Creek State Park (direct trail access from the park visitor center to this location is nearby). Trailheads exist at many other points along the trail and afford access as well.

Directions to the mark (provided by NGS datasheet 1989, retyped for clarity):
3.0 km (1.85 mi) west-northwest along state route 117 (Clopper Road) from the intersection of state route 124 (Quince Orchard Road) in Gaithersburg to the mark on the left, set in a massive rock outcrop along the east bank of Seneca Creek, 59.1 m (194 ft) southwest of the southeast corner of the concrete bridge over Seneca Creek, 26.8 m (88 ft) southwest of the southwest face of the ruins of a stone foundation, 5.2 m (17 ft) southeast of the edge of a vertical cliff at the east bank of the creek, and about 3.7 m (12 ft) below the bridge. Note – To get to the mark go about 91 m (100 yards) southeast of the Seneca Creek bridge to the southeast edge of a large clearing leading southwest and a trail, follow the trail to the creek and mark.

Directions to Seneca Creek State Park (as provided by the park):
The park is located in Montgomery County. From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. The park is approximately 2 miles on the left.
From points north, take I-270 south towards Washington, D.C., take Exit 11 (MD Route 124 west). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. At the second light, turn right onto Clopper Road (Route 117). The park is approximately 1.5 miles on the left.

Directions from within the park:
Enter the park and follow the road to a traffic circle. Take the right path towards the visitor center. Park at the end of the lot farthest from the center and look for a trail head on the right side. Take the trail down through a powerline through-way and meet up with the Greenway trail and Seneca Creek. Look for the stone structure remains and then the marker nearby.
