Dedicated on Jan. 15,1905, the Sacred Heart building combines several styles of architecture but is predominantly Romanesque.
Sacred Heart has been renovated more than once over the years but still looks much as it did in 1905.
The downtown Tampa structure, at Twiggs Street and Florida Avenue, is home to a Jesuit-run Catholic parish that had been established downtown in 1860 in a smaller building called St. Louis Church.
The current parish serves at least 1,400 families spread across the Tampa Bay area
