Parts of Antarctica have travelled all the way to Ohio. This facility is located next to Scott Hall. From State Route 315, use the Lane Avenue exit, go west on Lane Avenue to Kenny Road. Turn left onto Kenny Road, then turn right onto Carmack Road.

Some pieces of Antarctica are closer than you think. In fact many pieces. This facility, which is part of the Byrd Polar Research Center at the Ohio State University, houses rock sample collections from Antarctica and the Arctic, along with field notes, photos, maps, paleomagnetic cores, rock and mineral residues, thin sections, and microfossil mounts, microslides and residues. Rock samples may be borrowed or analyzed for research, educational or museum use. Visitors are welcome at the USPRR by appointment. (
