This peace pole is located along side the Arcade United Church of Christ, Congregational in Arcade, New York. Some interesting history about this church. Next to the peace pole visitors will find a plaque attached to a boulder that reads:
United Church of Christ, Congregational
Organized July 24, 1813 by the Rev. John Spencer, the first institution in Arcade, then called China.
First Church building on this site, erected 1833-1834. Meeting place of First School of Higher Education 1839.
State Convention of Western New York Abolitionists, 1840.
Grand Liberty Convention, July 31 to August 1, 1844. Present building erected and dedicated in 1877. Building rededicated in September 1977.
