Well, we got the Disney Pixar Edition for Christmas, and my first thought was, "Great, what are the chances a location in an animation will be a real one"?
Actually it turns out, it's got The Great Barrier Reef from "Finding Nemo", The Eiffel Tower and the Sewers of Paris from "Ratatouille", and Ramone's House of Body Art from "Cars, the Movie".
Now you may think at first surely Ramone's doesn't really exist. Think again. The folks at Pixar are no slouches when it comes to research, and "Cars" was no different. The Pixar folks traveled up and down Route 66 and took in everything they could see, smell, taste and touch.
Radiator Springs is an amalgamation of the various places along Route 66. When the pixar folks found the Conoco Tower, they used it for Ramone's House of Body Art.
