The memorial is a large boulder with three bronze inserts. The main insert reads: In memory of those patriots now buried in Cortland County who fought for the independence of their country in the war of the American Revolution-----erected by the Tioughnioga chapter of the Daughters on the American Revolution 1906.
The two bronze inserts in the back have the names of the veterans.
Cortland County was part of the "military tract" (
visit link) where land was given to veterans of the revolutionary war as payment for services.
