To answer a need for a larger and more versatile arena, the Coliseum was opened in the fall of 1960. Through the years the Coliseum has hosted concerts, rodeos, circuses, parties, conferences, trade shows and every sport that could fit. In 1970 the Trail Blazers were awarded to Portland as an expansion team. By the time that they had moved out after the 1995 season, they had sold out 810 consecutive games, a record for any team, in any sport, anywhere in the world.
