This steeple has a metal framework, is 186 ft high, and has a hemstitched spire built by the Parisian architect, Henry Pick.

The Cathedral, which was entirely rebuilt after the fire of 1890, is designed to withstand all calamites. On July 2 1895, it was inaugurated by Archbishop Carmene.
