The City of Festus, Missouri is named after Festus in the Bible.

The town's original name was Tanglefoot but as the town grew in size and
stature a more dignified name was demanded. The village fathers met their intent
was to select the first proper name they came across when they opened the Bible
at random. When the finger came to rest on the page the verse was "Then
Agrippa said to Festus, "I would like to hear this man myself." He replied,
"Tomorrow you will hear him." It is not known why "Festus" was
favored over the name "Agrippa"
