Memorial Lancaster JA 902 Emmeloord at the Lindeweg.
Noordoostpolder is an area of land reclaimed from the western side of the Zuiderzee. Emmeloord is the main village in the centre of the Polder.
The Lindeweg is a small road outside Emmeloord with some farms and some ( former labour-)houses. At the westside in the roadsite stands the cross.
On 3 January 1944, Lancaster bomber JA902 crashed there and the cross commemorates the crew members whom lost their lives.
Four of the crew members are buried in Vollenhove

Albert Cowell and Colin Hemingway Australian
The plane had taken off at 23:13 h, January 2, 1944 from the RAF airbase at Waddington in Lincolnshire. It was on a mission to bomb Berlin. The two other crew members who died, J.W.Gage and P.L.Symonds have no known grave and are commemorated at the Air Forces Runnymede memorial near Egham, Surrey, England. The crew where members of the 463 Squadron.
