Hiking up to this area can be a significant endevour and continuing on to the summit will afford you an excellent view of the surrounding states.

During the year of 2008, the roadways are closed to vehicle traffic but cyclists still continue to ride up. This closure is to allow for road maintenance and the Department of Conservation states that the road is off limits to all forms of traffic. See DCR on Mount Greylock for more details.

Also found on the same website is this information about Mount Greylock itself: At 3,491 feet, Mount Greylock is the highest point in Massachusetts. Rising above the surrounding Berkshire landscape, dramatic views of upwards almost 90 miles distant may be seen. It became Massachusetts' first state park, acquired by the Commonwealth in 1898, to preserve its natural environment for public enjoyment. Wild and rugged yet intimate and accessible, Mount Greylock rewards the visitor exploring this special place of scenic and natural beauty. Deer Hill Falls (at left), for example, is a feathering cascade to be found deep in the heart of Greylock.
