From 1869 t0 1885 Cattle drovers brought longhorns from the Rio Grande Valley to Ogallala, Nebraska. This stone marker placed in 1934 by the Southwest Nebraska Historical Society is located where the trail crossed present day highway 34 in Hitchcock County. It's decorated with a silhouette of the Texas longhorn.
