This eternal flame burns in the public square at Toronto's City Hall. It is a symbol of hope.
The nearby plaque reads:
"This peace garden represents the desire of the people of Toronto for peace among the nations and peoples of the world. The structure in the garden symbolizes shelter and community, and, with it's incomplete roof, the vulnerability of our efforts to achieve peace. The eternal flame is our hope, the water represents our faith in the renewal of life"
The co-ordinates are not perfect due to the urban canyon effect of the downtown core - the tallest buildings in the British Commonwealth are located just to the south, and the buildings to the north, east and west aren't exactly small. Once you reach Nathan Phillips Square, look for the group of trees just west of the centre of the facility.
