We found this totem pole in front of the Mohawk Trading Post in Shelburne, MA. The Trading Post has been operating at this location for as far back as ol' Harv here can remember, maybe even longer.
Not being an expert on Native American culture, I can't say for sure, but I don't ever remember hearing that totems were a big part east of the Mississippi. However despite the lack of a close-up shot this one does look to actually be made out of wood. Unless it's a really good fake.
