Uncle Johnny's Nolichucky Hostel - Erwin, TN - Hostels on Waymarking.com

A "zero day" hostel for those traveling on the Appalachian Trail (which mean no hiking distance towards goal that day). Get clean, eat different food (like pizza and ice cream!), pick up mail dropped gear, post photos and to blogs, make gear repairs, enjoy playing on the Nolichucky River, etc. This place is probably packed around end of April to May with northbound hikers. Other times it is useful to section hikers for the shuttle and mail drop services. Been in operation for a decade, so know the hiking community needs.

For the trail bound, this location is right on the Nolichucky River once off Temple Hill (from the south) and before Jones Branch (to the north). Roughly northbound mile marker 338. For the driving, take Exit 40 off I-26 (Erwin, TN), turn towards the Holiday Inn Express, then take the immediate first right onto Temple Hill Road (which runs in front of the Holiday Inn), after 0.7 miles turn left onto River Road, and finally travel 0.4 mile to the hostel. Direction/distance sign (Waymark WM5HJY) is right at the intersection corner.

Hostel basic rate is $17.50 per person per night for bed with clean linens and shower. Skip the linens (use own sleeping bag) for $15. Private rooms and cabins for $19.95 to 39.50 per night (some with microwaves and refrigerators). Use own tent for $8 per person per night to get the shower access. Showers Only for $3. Laundry service for $3 per load.
