Yosemite Bug Hostel in located outside Midpines, CA along Hwy 140, a popular route for people entering Yosemite National Park at the East entrance. Not long after leaving the Bug you drop down into the canyon and follow the Wild and Scenic Merced River for several miles until you finally reach the Park entrance.

The Bug has clean, rustic hostel dorms for both men and women. Bunk beds, linens provided, modern bathroom and shower facilities, foot lockers, community kitchen, and free wi fi are only a few of the ammenities on the property which also hosts tent cabins and family cabins. They recently completed a wonderful upscale spa, complete with large jacuzzi, saunas, rain showers, massage therapy and yoga.

The main lodge which is used by all guests is a tasteful mixture of dining and sitting areas. Books, games, computer (w/internet) and even a guitar are scattered around for the guests' use. The large stone fireplace with wood stove is a focal point in the lodge where you will often find guests - young and old - from most anywhere on earth speaking all sorts of languages - relaxing and sharing tales of adventure. You can enjoy a glass of wine or draught beer with your gormet dinner. Breakfasts and lunch are also served, and they will pack you a sack lunch if you prefer to eat elsewhere.

Tours are available for visiting Yosemite or biking along the Merced. Transportation available via Yarts and the busstop also serves the Amtrak which stops in Merced.

Every visit here has been positive. I highly recommend anyone planning to visit Yosemite make this a stop on their trip - even if just for a meal and look-see. You'll want to return! And the drive along 140 is by far the most scenic route into Yosemite.
