The sculpture of a Chumash child and a bear is incorporated into a gently spraying fountain on Mission Plaza just above the creek. At a later date, Yach Ka (a fish figure) was added into the fountain. The two bear cubs were added to the fountain in 2003, after the original sculpture which is described as only the girl and the bear next to her.

This straightforward description is from the Smithsonian Art Inventory:

"A Native-American girl sits on a rock in the corner of a shallow pool and a bear stands behind her to her proper left. She holds her slightly lifted proper right knee with both hands. The bear is standing outside the pool on its hind legs and leans on the rim of the pool against its front proper right paw. It extends its front proper left paw into the fountain water spray. The girl has long straight hair and wears a necklace, tee shirt, and shorts with a belt."
