Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU, Ceské vysoké ucení technické v Praze – CVUT in the Czech) – is one of the largest universities in Czech Republic and the oldest non-military technical university in Europe, with a long tradition of technical research.

Founded in 1707 by the the King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor Joseph I, the university celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2007. Its achievements in science, engineering and technical education have been associated with eminent teachers such as physicist Christian Doppler, chemist Vladimir Prelog (Nobel prize in 1975) and engineers F. J. Gerstner (designer of a horse-drawn railroad constructed in 1829) and Josef Božek who built a steam engine in 1806-1808, a steam carriage (1815) and worked on a steamship.
Currently over 24 000 students are enrolled in seven faculties and three research institutes, with a total of 14 bachelor programs, 23 master programs and 15 Ph.D. programs, many of which are taught in English, including joint-degree programs with foreign universities.
The university is located in the picturesque city of Prague, with four other campuses adjoining technological and industrial centers outside the city. It endeavours to works closely with industry and commerce, and high-tech companies. Industrial partners include Toyota, Skanska, Bosch, Siemens, Honeywell, GE, Rockwell, ABB Group, McKinsey, DaimlerChrysler and Skoda-Volkswagen.
Eligible alumni can obtain professional positions in partner companies and in research facilities, e.g., the university's R&D Center, and in mobile communications developers including Ericsson and Vodafone.
