We were in Frostburg visiting our son who attends the University there. When we offered to buy lunch all he wanted was to try out this hotdog place he'd heard about.
J.D. GoodDogs is very new and located in the former Frostburg office of the Cumberland (MD) News-Times on South Broadway, just off Main Street. You go in one door and out the other once you've received your order. The menu is a selection of hot dogs with specialty toppings or "make your own". You can have your choice of sides, and soups and BBQ sandwiches are also served seasonally.
There isn't a place to sit down yet (maybe the construction in the back is for a future dining room - the construction does not affect the food service area), so plan on take-out from here for now.
We each tried the Chili Dog, the Kraut Dog and I had the Slaw Dog. The wrappings are adequate enough, so when we ate outside the shop, it wasn't messy. The owner happened by and asked if we were enjoying the hot dogs. We gave him a hearty yes in reply and I asked if the cole slaw was made from scratch. It is and it's delicious!
When you go, look for the "News-Times" sign because so far the hot dog shop only has paper signs in the windows identifying it. The outside isn't fixed up but the service area was clean and the service and food were good.
