Rachel and I met at a geocaching event over two years ago. Since that first event, we've been pretty much in separable since then. The 100+ mile distance didn't keep us apart...

We decided to take a vacation to Hawaii and if all went well, the mood and location hit me right, I would ask her to by my wife.

One of the caches we wanted to do was located on Mokule'ia Beach, one of the spots where they have filmed and are still filming parts of "Lost". In Season One, this is the spot where the middle of the airplane (Oceanic Flight 815) landed on the beach. This was the first beautiful beach we had to ourselves and it felt like the right time and place..

Below is the log for the cache, just past this location where I asked her to marry me.

8221. One of sixteen caches found today with Rachelhead on day six, our last full day, in Hawaii. Today we headed north to shop and then to the Dole Plantation trying to do more touristy stuff!

This cache turned out to be one of the most important ones of the day, trip and maybe my life. I didn't know what to expect when we got here. We got what I had been looking for most of the trip, a secluded nice beach where I could ask Rachelhead for her hand in marriage.

We found the cache quickly enough (I think there is a dirty diaper under it) and enjoyed being alone on the beach.

As we were walking back to the car, I knew this was my chance to ask. We stopped at a tree and I took out a picture of a ring (it's not sized for her yet), that my great-grandfather, a jeweler, had made for his wife over 100 years ago. It has been passed down in the family and as the first male child, it was given to me to give to someone special. I knew this would be extra special to Rachel as she is a fan of family trees, history and heirlooms like this.

Rachel is very special to me, and someone I want to spend the rest of my life with (hopefully caching).

I think she was surprised but she did say yes.

Thank you for setting this cache on a secluded beach, giving me a place to propose to the woman I love.
