Mount Kosciusko is the highest mountain in Australia and is one of the worlds 7 peaks if you are looking at the Australia list.
Its summit sits at 2224 meters above sea level. The easiest route to the summit would be to go from the Thredbo village, take the Kosciusko Express chair lift and take the track from there. The track is 6.5kms and is mostly flat with little hills along the way. Most people with a moderate fitness level should get to the summit in about 2 hours at the most, in summer, in winter it might take longer as the track will be covered in snow!!
People who cant walk long distances very easily should not attempt the walk. Its about 6kms to a place called Rawson pass where Australia's highest toilet is located. You can stop and have a rest there but i recommend you try not to rest until the summit because as soon as you stop 1000 flys and march flys are all over you, however when you get to the summit there are no flys. the whole walk is along an exposed ridge and can be very dangerous in winter if a storm cam along, also along the summit ridge small cornices have been known to form there so watch out for that. also in summer the sun can be quite harsh so remember to take some sun screen!!!!!!
Akso it may look like theres a road heading up to the summit but there is not, this road shown on the map is a rangers road, you can walk along it to get to the summit from charlots pass 8.5kms to the summit.
Good luck and enjoy the walk :)
