Visitors to the Columbian Park Zoo are immediately greeted by this 42-inch black granite kugel bearing a map of the world. The kugel can be spun on its axis. It is the central feature of an interactive fountain area that pays tribute to animals from all seven continents: a bear cub, platypus, orangutang, penguin, alligator, gecko, and baby elephants are represented in bronze.
The kugel fountain was manufactured by Kusser FountainWorks in Germany and was funded by a gift from The McAllister Foundation.
