The Grass Rides is one of many properties owned by The Trustees of Reservations (TTOR). The "Rides" is an English term for a carriage ride path. This is generally a very quiet, serene, and peaceful place. Five miles of trails can hold a lot of people without running into each other very often. The web site link gives detailed information about the property and the trails. The visitor parking area is on Highland Street, just north of the intersection of Cutler Road, in Hamilton. The property is open from sunrise to sunset.

This property directly adjoins the Appleton Farms property, also owned by TTOR. These two properties are administered, managed, and operated as a single unit, and their separation is little more than a technicality. Together they contain over 900 acres (nearly 1.5 square miles), and have more than eleven miles of trails. The Farms has many more open fields and pastures, as compared to the Grass Rides, which has more forest. The trails freely cross from one property to the other. The Appleton Farms Public Access Waymark provides more details for that section.

For points of interest on both properties, see the list given in Lucky 7 at Appleton Farms. There are also at least four geocaches. Be sure to pick up a trail map, either from the web site link above, or in the parking area. Enjoy the Farms. Its a great place to visit.
