Friendly and knowledgable help is what you get at Gun Country in Mt Airy. They stock a good selection of handguns, rifles, shotguns and ammo. They also repair guns. Prices are very reasonable. Gun Country also offers North Carolina's mandatory orientation and training class, which is required to obtain a handgun concealed carry permit.
Gun Country began operation in 1981, and quickly grew into a full-line shooting and hunting store. It soon outgrew its original location on South Street in Mt. Airy, and moved into its new facility on Hadley Street in the fall of 1989.
Gun Country has the area's only indoor handgun shooting range, offering six lanes of shooting for handgun practice. All standard calibers from .22 up to and including .44 Magnum and .45 Colt are permitted. Only rifle calibers and handgun calibers traveling over 2,000 feet per second are excluded.
