A little dam across the Truckee River, it was originally built to aid in logging in the area.

The dam was built to help with floating logs down the river to the mills in Truckee. The dam has been used to control the waterflow at times flooding the residents living nearby. The dam is currently controlled by the Bureau of Reclamation but only the top 6 feet of water can be adjusted.
