The first visitors on the peak were hunters and botanists. It is possible that someone was on the top. Probably first fellow on the top was German teacher Jan Still (1805-1890) from catholic school in Nova Lesna village and comitties - brother-in-law Gellhof architect from Nova Lesna village, Martin Spitzkopf - miller from Nova Lesna village with two other hunters. First Slovak climbing occured in 1875. Climbers Jan Ruman Driecny Jr. and Ján Pasternak from Stola village made it during Batizovska proba.

Prvymi bezprostrednymi navstevnikmi Gerlachovskeho stitu boli polovníci a botanici. Je mozne, ze niektori z nich dosiahli aj vrchol. Pravdepodobne prvym clovekom, ktory dokazatelne v roku 1834 stal na vrchole, bol spissky Nemec Jan Still (1805 - 1890), ucitel na katolickej skole v Novej Lesnej. Na tejto ture sa zucastnil spolu so svojim svagrom Gellhofom, stavitelom z Velkej, Martinom Urbanom Spitzkopfom, mlynarom z Novej Lesnej a s dvoma dalsimi neznamymi lovcami kamzikov. Slovensky prvovystup cez Batizovsku probu vykonali v r. 1875 horski vodcovia zo Stoly Jan Ruman Driecny ml. a Jan Pasternak.
