1833 - The Adam Brown family arrived here from Elkhart, Ind., and became the first permanent white settlers in the region, setting at two historic roads, Sauk Trail and Vincennes Road (Chicago Road today). Adam Brown lived there 62 years until his death in 1895, at age 89.
