I don't know a parent who wouldn't be able to relate to this whimsical scene and portrayal of a family. I am reminded of a fun Sunday afternoon of exploration with my son, also resting upon my shoulders.. The sculptures may be found directly in front of a local service center - auto repair business called Peterson's Garage.
The sculptures are located along a remote section of the White Horse Pike (Rt. 30). They are made up of lots of used parts and scraps of metal. The son is a beautiful red and the mother has blue arms and a blue head. The parents are on socles, one made up of a wheel and the other, a spare tire. There are six other sculptures not including these three.
Peterson's Garage isn't the only local business that boasts original, car part sculptures. It seems there are several garages and part businesses all very close to this one, all with their own original and quite unique sculptures. These sculptures were made by mechanic and resident artist, Tom Peterson.
There is also a roadside attraction listing for this site. It can be found HERE
