Pack Monadnock - Highest Point in Hillsborough County, NH - Geographic High Points on Waymarking.com

The highest point in Hillsborough County in the southern part of New Hampshire is Pack Monadnock, or South Pack Monadnock with an official elevation of 2,290 feet (697 meter) above mean sea level. The summit of Pack Monadnock is located in the town of Peterborough, lower eastern parts of the mountain lie also in the town of Temple. Most of the mountain is located in Miller State Park, the oldest State Park in New Hampshire. On good days you are rewarded with views of Mount Washington, Mount Monadnock, the Boston skyline and the Green Mountains in Vermont.

You can access Miller State Park from route 101 on the southern side of the mountain. Three main trails are open year-round for hikers and lead to the summit. From the parking lot you can hike either the Wapack Trail (yellow triangle) or the Marion Davis Trail (blue blazes). Raymond Trail (white blazes) begins west of the mountain and outside of the state park from East Mountain Road. You can also drive up to the summit, a winding 1.3-mile paved road is open for visitors in the summer and on spring and fall weekends. The summit is topped with an old fire tower which is no longer in use and some radio antenna masts. Limited parking place, picnic tables and toilets are also available on the summit.
