Lynley MacDonald, 34, was knocked off her bike by a stock truck as she rode with her father along a rural road west of Whangarei. She died that evening in hospital.
Now a bicycle painted white has been chained to a road sign near the accident. This white ghost bike is designed to be both a memorial for Lynley and a reminder of the importance of watching out for cyclists.
The ghost bike can be visited on Pipiwai Road, Northland.
