Marker Text states:
Built in 1858 on land donated by Harvey Hopkins. Consecrated May 16, 1858 by the Rt. Rev. Leonidas Polk, first Episcopal Bishop of Louisiana. This Gothic Revival structure is the oldest non-residential building in New Iberia. During the war Between the States the church was used as a guard house and hospital by Union troops. Behind the alter is a Tiffany stained~glass window installed in 1884.
This church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
