MORRISON OBSERVATORY, west of the campus in Fayette City Park, was established in near-by Glasgow in 1874 with funds given Pritchett School Institute by Mrs. Berenice Morrison-Puller, now of St. Louis. At that time it was the largest observatory west of the Mississippi River. Pritchett College was closed in 1922, and in 1935 the observatory was moved to Fayette. - Missouri: Guide to the "Show Me" State, Tour 1, pg 351.
The Observatory is used by Central Methodist College. The historic 1875 Clark refractor telescope is still in use. The Observatory is open for public viewing occasionally. This website gives schedule of open dates.
