The JUDGE ABIEL LEONARD HOUSE (private), a two-story, red-brick structure with one-story portico and fanlight entranceway, was built about 1835 by Judge Abiel Leonard (1797-1863), lawyer, political leader, and Missouri supreme court judge. Behind the house are the original brick slave cabins. - Missouri: Guide to the "Show Me" State, Tour 1, pg. 351.
The house also known as Oakwood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is well maintained. The brick slave cabins mentioned in the guide still exist behind the house.
